While at Mila's 6 month check-up, Dr. Cannon gave us the go ahead to start her on solids. He suggested we begin with rice cereal, so last night we gave Mila her first taste of cereal. Her first reaction was priceless, and I am so glad we got it on video. In a couple of weeks, we will start her on pureed vegetables. The diaper changes should be getting pretty interesting very soon ;)

6 Month Check-Up
Mila had her 6 month check-up this morning. She did so well for Dr. Cannon; she let him do the exam without crying at all. I was a little nervous because she is going through this "stranger danger" phase, but she didn't make a peep.
She weighed in at 17 pounds 6 ounces which puts her in the 73%tile and is 25.5 inches long which puts her in the 33%tile for length. So it looks like she's going to be a shorty (no surprise there), which is perfect for our future gymnast :)
Dr. Cannon said that he was really surprised with how well she sits up and is practically crawling. He said she is really advanced, and is more at par with a 7 1/2 - 8 month old. How exciting!! He even called her 'super baby.'

Consignment score!!
I have discovered my new favorite place to shop. It's called Kid to Kid, and it's a children's consignment store here Scottsdale. They also have one in Ahwatukee and Gilbert. I'm not usually one who particularly likes consignment stores, but after seeing how much toys were, I decided I had to check it out.
I purchased all of these toys (see picture) from Kid to Kid for a grand total of $55.41 before tax. Now that may seem like a lot of money for toys at first, but I found each of the toys on Amazon, which tends to be the cheapest place to find toys. I added it all up, and had I bought all these toys on Amazon, my total would have been...$163.42. That's a savings of $108.01 which amounts to a 66% savings (can you tell I love math?). The purchase I am most proud of is the baby stroller. It's on Amazon for $33.34 and I got it for $7.99...76% off. CrAzY!! I had originally put a few of these items on Mila's "wish list" on Pinterest, but I just couldn't pass them up when I found them at Kid to Kid for so much cheaper. I am definitely my mother's daughter. Lol.
Now off to wipe them all down with a sani-wipe, and they'll be as good as new.

6 months old today!!
Mila is six months old today, and I am having so much fun watching her grow. In the last month she has had her two bottom teeth come in, has learned to go from her tummy to her butt, and is practically sleeping through the night (I hope I didn't just jinx it). We have also been taking her out more this month. She's been to a few restaurants and stores, such as Hobby Lobby and Buy Buy Baby, and she does really well. Next time we're out with her, I'll take some pictures and post. Some things I am looking forward to this coming month is her crawling (although I am also a little nervous about that), beginning her with solids, and slowly transitioning her from bottle to sippy cup. I'll definitely be sure to post about all these milestones when she hits them :) She goes for her 6 month check-up with her pediatrician later this week, so I'll be sure to post her most recent stats. I always get excited to see how much she's grown.

Almost crawling!!
Mila will be six months in less than a week, and she has reached so many milestones already. Her most recent one is being able to go from being on her tummy to sitting on her booty. This has made nap time a bit of a hassle because I lay her on her back which then she rolls to her tummy and then right to her butt. Funny thing is, is she has not figured out how to go from her butt back to laying down. Lol. She is so incredibly close to crawling, and I predict she'll have it down in the next week or so. Guess it's time to start baby-proofing this house.
First Post!!
This blog is more for personal reasons. It's just a way to post about my journey as a new mom. I want to blog about milestones that my daughter, Mila, makes, projects that I do, recipes that I try, and my thoughts and concerns about motherhood. Pretty much 'everything mom.'
